I made it back safely from Vancouver last night. Unfortunately, I learned during my trip that I did not get the position I had applied for. However, the conference went well and I successfully defended my dissertation. I have to make some revisions, and hopefully will finish by October at the latest and formally receive my degree in November.
Here is the convention center in Honolulu where the conference was held.
We presented in this room at 8am on Thursday, March 31, the first day of the conference. Despite that, we had about 20 people come, which was a pretty good turn out.

To my pleasant surprise I ran into my old friend and colleague, Hilary Finchum, who is an ethno-musicologist. Her daughter has been winning all sorts of music/speech awards and her sons are quite bright too!
