Fun with Uncle Dan

Uncle Dan, my father's youngest brother, came to visit us. It's been a long time so it was great to see him.

We went out to a nearby field to try flying Apah and Uncle Dan's Quadcopters

 I think this is a P-47 Thunderbolt

I recently got out of the stone age and purchased a smart phone. I used it to document a typical day at Church. Usually after Mass, with the exception of a couple of the larger Catholic clans, most of native-born Catholics leave. However, the Filipinos and their native-born children tend to hang around for awhile afterwards, which makes for a lot of post-Mass fun.

Hey, John doesn't have bunny ears!

The Filipinos congregating together with David and John playing in front.

Children playing after Mass, a wholesome and pure image that makes life so pleasurable.

Happy Father's Day (300th Post)

By some coincidence, the 300th post of this blog falls on Father's Day. Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there! In celebration of the day, here are some pictures from our Father's Day lunch at Wendy's with the people who made possible my fatherhood!

Fun at the Library

Greenwood County has a nice library, so we have been trying to make time to go to more activities there.
The kickoff for the summer programs was a presentation of the "Tortoise and the Hare." The joke here is that the actress thought it was "Hair."

We came back a week later for the paper airplane making workshop.
Arlene helping David.
Fun with planes
They had a contest. David is getting ready to throw his plane.

They marked where each plane landed with a piece of tape.
David won a prize for getting third place (I think the bigger prize is getting to hug Arlene).
David's plane went 21 feet.

Catching Up

I'm a bit behind on posting pictures on the blog so this post will have a lot different pictures from different times.
John is really into puzzles now. He also likes building "churches" (the blocks in the back). He and David like playing with magnetic blocks (what he is holding in his hands)
 Amah watching John.
David showing off his A honor roll trophy.

We went figure skating. David got two holes in one--not bad for a first time. Here is one of of those two holes.
Here is the other whole.

David and John learning the game.

Arlene, John, me, and David. I was fortunate enough to be given the Moore Award for excellence in gen-ed teaching (it's named after one of my colleagues, our philosopher, so I thought that was really cool).

John using a lot of my old toys to guard another church.
Apah and John feeding ducks. They come to visit us at our house frequently.
Exciting Duck-Feeding action!
