Feast of the Assumption of Mary
Today marks the occassion of the Blessed Virgin Mary's Assumption into Heaven. It also marks the end of the World War Two in the Pacific. Takashi Nagai, whose wife, Midori died in the atomic bombing of Nagasaki drew a picture of Mary being Assumed into heaven in a cloud and his wife being Assumed into heaven on a mushroom cloud. That man's faith always amazes me.
Mary, Mother of God, pray for us!

Anniversary
On August 5th Arlene and I celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary. For lunch we went to the mall so Arlene could do some shopping and ate at the Great Steak and Potato factory. David got to ride the Merry-go-round and had a good time. We went out for dinner at Red Lobster. It was a lot of fun. Hopefully will have at least 45 more anniversaries!

Prayers answered
On Friday mom went to Indianapolis (about 4 hours away) for a consultation to have some gall stones removed (usually that's a pretty routine procedure but mom's was a special case so they had to use a new technique). The doctor decided to just go ahead and do it. This was unexpected but a double blessing as that way they didn't have to go back up to Indy again and mom would not have to wait long to have her surgery. The surgery was a success and mom has already said she feels a lot better now that the stones are gone. So thanks everyone for your prayers. God is indeed good.
