Zoo

On Monday, mom, dad, Arlene, David and I went to the Mesker Park Zoo in Evansville.
A peacock trying to attract mate. He didn't have much luck with this female peacock or the one behind him.

Here is a film of him trying to attract her attention.

A rhino.

The sign speaks for itself!

And here's Donna!

The best looking bat int he world.

There was a neat child's area where kids could play and get pretty close to the animals. David had fun on it until it ran too close to the monkies. He wasn't too interested in the animals. What he did like was having a wide open space to run in.

Play-dough

Sylvia and William kindly gave us a pack of play-dough. David doesn't yet know the cans can open!

Easter Fun

Happy Easter! Christ is risen, truly Christ is risen!

Mom made us a nice Easter basket.

Here are a couple of videos of David dyeing eggs:

God bless all!

To Philly or bust!

A few days ago we got back from Philadelphia. I was presenting a paper at the Association of Asian Studies annual conference. There are several family friends out there so mom, dad, Arlene, David and I all went out together.

David eating his favorite meal, McDonald's fries. No fries until you eat your chicken nuggets!

While I was at the conference Arlene, David, and Dad went exploring. Here they are at the Liberty Bell.

The conference went well. I had some good comments on my paper and made some new contacts. I also met up with some old friends from Fulbright. On the left is Misty and her husband Caleb. She was in Fulbright to work on a novel about her husbands dad.

Mike (he studies Japanese prisons in Korea) and Katherine (she studies ethnomusicology) are next to me.

On Saturday we went to mass at Saint John Neumann's shrine. Here we are at his museum. Notice the prayer requests stuffed into the crucifix.

Arlene and David pose next to a picture of the saint as a child and his coffin.

Saint John Neumann managed to convince two murderers to repent before their deaths. He was given the noose and the executioner's hoods.

Eating a chocolate dipped cone with chocolate ice cream at a Dairy Queen. It doesn't get any better than that.

Arlene and I pose with our friends Sylvia and William's twin sons, Oliver (left) and Vincent (right). They have very different personalities. Oliver is more outgoing and willing to try new things. He's also more emotional and cries easier than Vincent. Vincent is more easy going and relaxed. Both are very cute!

Sylvia, William and their kids. Good looking parents = good looking kids.

Matt, Dad, David and I in front of a Golden Corral in Dayton. Matt is David's godfather. David was tired and so was acting hyper. He really wanted to escape in this picture.
